About MPPSC SSE
The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission State Service Examination (MPPSC SSE) is the flagship annual civil services recruitment exam of Madhya Pradesh, conducted from Indore to recruit Class-I and Class-II gazetted officers across the state. It selects officers for the Madhya Pradesh State Administrative Service (Deputy Collector), State Police Service (DSP), State Finance Service, Commercial Tax Officer, District Excise Officer, and Naib Tehsildar. Under the revised 2024 examination scheme, MPPSC significantly increased the weightage of Madhya Pradesh-specific history, tribal heritage, geography, and economy across both Prelims and Mains, while adding Sociology, Entrepreneurship, Management, and Ahilyabai Holkar / Tribal Icon modules. The three-stage selection process comprises a two-paper OMR Preliminary test (no negative marking), a six-paper descriptive Main examination (1,500 marks, with no optional subjects), and a 185-mark Personality Test.
The examination process for MPPSC SSE comprises 3 stages: Preliminary Examination, followed by Main Examination (Written Descriptive - Revised 1,500 Marks Pattern), followed by Interview (Personality Test). The official syllabus tests candidates across 6 core areas — History, Culture, Dynasties & Tribes of Madhya Pradesh (Prelims Units 2 & 10, Mains GS I), Geography, Forests, Rivers and Economy of Madhya Pradesh (Prelims Units 4 & 6, Mains GS I & III), Indian History, World/Indian Geography & Indian Polity (Mains GS I & GS II Part A), Sociology, Philosophy, Ethics, Entrepreneurship & Management (Mains GS II Part B & GS IV), Indian Economy, Statistics, Science, Tech & Ayush/Health (Mains GS III), Compulsory Hindi Language, Dialects of MP & Draft Writing (Mains Papers V & VI) — focusing on conceptual clarity, speed, and accuracy. Prelims Paper II (CSAT) is qualifying for State Service (33% for UR, 23% for SC/ST/OBC/EWS; counted only if also applying for State Forest Service), and Prelims Paper I (200 marks) determines the Mains cutoff in a 1:20 ratio. Final merit is determined by the sum of all 6 compulsory Mains papers (1,500 marks) and the Interview (185 marks), totaling 1,685 marks.

How to prepare for MPPSC SSE
- Take full advantage of the zero negative marking rule in MPPSC Prelims—never leave any of the 100 questions unattempted.
- Note that under the revised 2024 syllabus, roughly 40% to 45% of Prelims Paper I (Units 2, 4, 5B, 6B, and the entire Unit 10 on Tribes of MP) and roughly 40% of Mains GS I, II, and III focus specifically on Madhya Pradesh.
