About CA Final
CA Final is the last examination of the Chartered Accountancy course conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). It has six papers in two groups covering financial reporting, advanced financial management, auditing, direct and indirect taxation and a multidisciplinary case study. Clearing it, together with completing articleship and the advanced training course, leads to membership of ICAI.
The examination process for CA Final comprises 3 stages: Group I, followed by Group II, followed by Membership. The official syllabus tests candidates across 6 core areas — Financial Reporting, Advanced Financial Management, Advanced Auditing, Assurance and Professional Ethics, Direct Tax Laws and International Taxation, Indirect Tax Laws, Integrated Business Solutions — focusing on conceptual clarity, speed, and accuracy. A candidate passes a group by scoring at least 40 marks in every paper and 50 per cent in aggregate for that group. A paper scored at 60 or more earns an exemption for the next three attempts. ICAI also publishes an All India merit list of top rank holders. Passing both groups and completing all training leads to membership of ICAI.
